Youth Prevention Ambassadors

The Monroe County Youth Prevention Ambassadors are the student extension of the CARES coalition. Ambassadors were nominated by their teachers, principals, and members of the CARES coalition. The ambassadors were then asked to fill out an application, agreeing to be drug, alcohol, and tobacco free, and from the applications students from Monroe County Middle  and Monroe County High School.

Ambassador Summer Training

The Youth Prevention Ambassadors met for two days over the summer break for an intense training session.

"Talk, They Hear You" Radio Campaign

Youth Prevention Council members Sara Wilson and Ariel Emberton recorded a set of public service announcements for the local radio station, WTKY, as part of the CARES and SAMHSA "Talk, They Hear You" national media campaign. The announcements warned parents about the dangers of underage drinking and gave tips on how to talk to their children. Ariel and Sara did a great job! 

Kick Butts Day pickup results

Prevention Council Members participated in the national celebrated Kick Butts Day on Thursday, March 20, collecting cigarette butts from the Middle and High School campuses. Read more
