Children's Advocacy Day

Members of the Monroe County High School Youth Prevention Council traveled to Frankfort to participate in the 10th annual Children’s Advocacy Day at the Capitol. Seniors Matthew Allen, Coral Serrano, Heather Shand and junior Samantha Ellis met with Senator David Givens and Representative Bart Rowland. They shared with them details of their successful Drive Safe project which they held last year which showcased the dangers of distracted driving and won $25,000 for the school. The group was later invited to attend the Senate session and were introduced to the senators on the floor and welcomed as honored guests of Sen. Givens.
